  My fiancé and I had tried the Palate pop-up at the Drafting Table prior to trying the restaurant, so we were looking forward to celebrating his birthday here last Saturday evening. Knowing that weekends are busy for any restaurant, I emailed the owner asking about a possible reservation for 3 (I know their website says reservations for 6 or more, but I thought I'd try) and she said that at 5:30 on a Saturday, we should be able to walk in and get a table no problem. That was not the case. I was initially told a 30 minute wait by the hostesses (it wasn't terribly busy and there were a few tables open), so despite my initial annoyance at the wait, a bartender offered us one of her high tops and we settled in for some drinks. She was a fantastic server, beer list was extensive, and the Palate Manhattan was excellent. However, what was supposed to be a 30 minute wait ended up being a full HOUR. We sat there watching groups who arrived after us get seated, and it wasn't until I got up to ask the hostess after 45 minutes when we were going to get a table that we were issued any kind of half-apology. At that point she said we were the next to be seated, but we waited an additional 20 minutes and watched two other groups get seated ahead of us again! I would love to leave a 5 star review because the food was delicious and our server Anthony was phenomenal and made great suggestions, but for over an hour wait when we tried to get there early, I can't justify a higher rating at this time. I understand that wait times can't always be helped (I was a server/hostess/bartender for years) but the communication could have been a lot better.
